V with a Twist Baby Blanket Crochet Pattern

Updated: May 2, 2023

I created this design in the spring because I wanted to have another quick baby blanket pattern in my bag for when I needed to whip something up last minute as that does seem to happen from time to time. I love simple repeats with a little unique flare for baby blanket designs.

I stumbled upon this unique embellishment to the V stitch while designing my "Hodgepodge Shawl" and then fluffed it up a bit for my "Shephard Christmas Tree Skirt" and loved it so much I decided it would be perfect for just this type of thing.

I wrote it up, made one, & shipped it off to my superhero tester team who whipped it up.

Then I decided to add it here to my blog so you all can throw it in your bag too!

Here's what you'll need to get started.......

Materials:

Premier Basics yarn(approx. 1,005 yds)

CA = Sage(approx. 660 yds)

CB = Chestnut(approx. 345 yds)

I(5.25mm) Hook

Scissors

Needle

Abbreviations(US Terms):

SK = Skip

sts = Stitches

ST = Stitch

SL= Slip Stitch

CH = Chain

SC = Single Crochet

HDC = Half Double Crochet

DC = Double Crochet

FP = Front Post

NOTES: Finished blanket with this pattern & yardage should measure approx. 33.5” by 37.5”. To adapt this stitch to other widths chain any multiple of 3. To adapt the length of the pattern work up through row 45 and then repeat rows 38-45 as many times as you need before continuing on to row 46. Each repeat section will add an additional 4” to your length.
