Scarecrow Puff CAL Part 3

Scarecrow Puff Part 3



If you didn't already grab your supplies, here's what you will need to get started......


Materials:

Any WW4/Aran/10ply yarns(approx. 119 yds total)

Head: Light Brown(approx. 68 yds)

Hat: Dark Brown(approx. 44 yds)

Eyes: Black & White(approx. 2 yds each)

Straw: Gold(approx. 2 yds)

Nose: Orange(approx. 3 yds)

H(Boye 5mm) Hook

Yarn Needle

Poly-Fil Stuffing: approx 2 fists full


Abbreviations(US Terms):

CH= Chain

SK= Skip

ST = Stitch

sts = Stitches

SC= Single Crochet

HDC= Half Double Crochet

DEC = HDC 2 Stitches Together

BLO = Back Loop Only

For part 3 we will be creating the face and attaching everything to your finished front panel.


Nose: with orange

CH 6

ROW 1: SC in 2nd chain from the hook & in each chain across(5 total)


ROW 2-4: CH1 and turn, skip the first stitch and SC across

Note: each row will decrease count by one ST. Row 4 with have 2 sts total.


TRIM: CH 1 & turn, SC the first 2 sts together,

ROTATE to work along the side, place 1 SC in the end of each ROW(4),

ROTATE to work along the bottom or your starting CH, 2 SC in the first CH, SC in the next 3 chains, 2 SC in the last CH(7), ROTATE to work along the side, place 1 SC in the end of each ROW(4), SL to your beginning SC to connect.

Cut & tie off leaving a long enough tail to use to sew onto your head.

Scarecrow Puff eyes


Eyes: begin both with black yarn


First Eye:

CH 4

ROW 1: 2 SC in 2nd chain from the hook, HDC in the last 2 sts(4 total)

Cut leaving a long tail to sew the black portion on & tie off.


Change to White

ROW 2: CH 1(does not count as a ST) & turn, HDC in the first 2 sts, place 2 SC in the last 2 sts(6)

Cut leaving a long tail to sew the white portion on & tie off.


Second Eye:

CH 4

ROW 1: HDC in 2nd chain from the hook, HDC in the next ST, 2 SC in the last ST(4 total)

Cut leaving a long tail to sew the black portion on & tie off.


Change to White

ROW 2: CH 1(does not count as a ST) & turn, place 2 SC in the first 2 sts, HDC in the last 2 sts(6)


Cut leaving a long tail to sew the white portion on & tie off.

Scarecrow Puff eyes

Once you have completed all the pieces continue on. Arrange the pieces on the face however you like and use pins to hold them in place. Sew the nose & eyes onto the right side of the front head panel.

Scarecrow Puff face

Use a strand of black yarn to hand stitch a mouth however you like.

Scarecrow Puff mouth

Tie strands of golden yarn to row 13 under the hat brim to represent straw.
