Abbreviations(US Terms):
CH = Chain
SK = Skip
ST = Stitch
sts = Stitches
SL= Slip Stitch
SC = Single Crochet
HDC = Half Double Crochet
DC = Double Crochet

NOTES: The CH 1 at the beginning of each row does NOT count as a Stitch. You will be placing one stitch in each stitch across. A tighter tension is needed for this stitch pattern. In Part two we will be creating the back panel of your bag with your button hole!
To begin CH 48.
ROW 1: HDC in the 2nd CH from the hook, repeat (SC, HDC, DC, HDC) across to the end. You will finish with a SC in the next to the last ST and a HDC in the last ST
ROW 2: CH 1 & turn, HDC in the first ST, repeat (DC, HDC, SC, HDC) across to the end. You will finish with a DC in the next to the last ST and a HDC in the last ST
ROW 3: CH 1 & turn, HDC in the first ST, repeat (SC, HDC, DC, HDC) across to the end. You will finish with a SC in the next to the last ST and a HDC in the last ST
ROW 4: REPEAT ROW 2
ROW 5: REPEAT ROW 3
Continue repeating rows 2 and 3 until you have a total of 58 rows.
Note: All the even numbered rows will be a repeat of ROW 2 and the odd numbered rows are a repeat of ROW 3.
ROW 59: CH 1 & turn, repeat (HDC, SC, HDC, DC) 5 times, HDC, SC, CH3/SK3, repeat (SC, HDC, DC, HDC) 5 times, SC, HDC
ROW 60: CH 1 & turn, repeat (HDC, DC, HDC, SC) 5 times, HDC, SK1, place 5 SC in the CH 3 space, SK 1, repeat (HDC, SC, HDC, DC) 5 times, HDC in the last ST, Cut & tie off.
