New Release Announcement-Emery Pouch
Updated: Apr 30, 2024
A few months into the 2nd year of my designer journey I decided I needed more patterns in my store to be a real designer, all my opinion of course. I wanted to go from just a hobby shop with less than 20 patterns to an actual legitimate designer. I got this great idea to release one pattern a week for the whole year and a free pattern every month. I prayed a LOT and only by the grace of God did I accomplish this feat, but then the blessings just kept coming. Now I'm over 1/4 of the way into my 4th year of this 2020 goal and the patterns just keep popping out.
While trying to come up with a new venture into this business for this year I got the idea to create a blog post announcement every time I release a new pattern. I shot it down at first because I really hate talking about and hyping up my designs. I can go on and on about other's works of art, but mine are hard for me to critique in a positive light. The thought of having to talk about them every week was just too overwhelming to attempt so I put the idea on the back burner.
Now it's already April and I have to do something to grow. Enough procrastinating and staying stuck. Growth is usually very uncomfortable, but I have seen time and time again in my life how much better it is on the other side of those growing pains. All that to say, please bear with me as I attempt to try something new.
My new release for this week is the Emery Pouch crochet pattern!

This adorable phone pouch was designed for the lovely lady who allows me sell my items in her cute little boutique. She wanted phone purses for the store, so I scanned all of my stitch designs to pick just the right one. I love the texture this stich pattern creates and so off I went with it. The Emery Stitch design uses different post & loop stitches to create a beautiful texture that allows stretch too.

This stitch pattern actually came out of a mistake I made while working up a bunch of my Avery Beanies. I loved it so much I gave it its own pattern and the Emery Beanie was born. Always look for the good stuff and you'll be much better off in life!
To design this pouch I used my favorite Yarn Bee Soft & Sleek Yarns, also what was sitting next to me which is usually the case, and my trusty little orange Boye H(5mm) hook. I like to include the multiples needed to adapt my stitch designs in a lot of my patterns so buyers can create other items with them after learning how they are made. The finished measurement of the bag should be approx. 7.25” long & 4.5” wide, so you should have plenty of room for your phone and a few other necessary odds and ends. The textured strap has a drop length of 25" for cross body wear but you can easily adapt the length to whatever you like.
I used some basic wood accents for the buttons and rings, that I scooped up somewhere in my travels over the years, but feel free to change it up and use whatever you like to make it your own! I've been known to use some pretty unusual items in my work, like shower curtain hooks for example. I think using something unique makes my items extra special.
