Cuddlesome Scarf Pattern
Updated: Jan 26, 2023
I have had this fun scarf in my "to be released" bag for quite some time now. For some reason every time I went to release it something came up. If it wasn't another pattern jumping to the front of the line, then it was the prototype went MIA so I couldn't get more pictures. This time my mannequin took a bad fall and broke (RIP Myrna).
I am at the point now where I feel if I don't just get on with it (terrible photos or not) then it will never happen. Please forgive my lack of photography skills(always).
The PDF download of the Cuddlesome Scarf pattern also includes a handy chart for keeping track of which row you are on & also includes the multiples needed to adapt your starting chain to any size so you can use the Cuddlesome stitch design in other ways.
Here's what you'll need to get started:
Materials:
Big Twist Value Yarn(approx. 550 yds total)
Taupe (approx. 375 yds)
Light Rose(approx. 175 yds)
I(Boye 5.25mm) Hook
Scissors
Needle
Abbreviations(US Terms):
SK = Skip
sts = Stitches
ST = Stitch
SL= Slip Stitch
CH = Chain
SC = Single Crochet
HDC= Half Double Crochet
DC = Double Crochet
FPDC = Front Post Double Crochet
DC3TOG = Double Crochet the next 3 stitches together: (YO, insert your hook in the next ST, YO & pull up a loop, YO & pull through 2) 3 times, YO & pull through all 4 loops
EDC = Extended DC: YO, insert your hook & pull up a loop, YU, pull through 1, (YO, pull through 2) twice
NOTES: Rule of thumb for determining scarf length is at least the height of the wearer. The yardage calculation for this pattern is for a 69” length. If you would like to make this a solid color, simply skip the color changes.
To begin CH 30 with Taupe
ROW 1: SC in the 2nd CH from the hook and in each ST across(29 total)
ROW 2: CH 3(counts as your first DC) & turn, DC in the next ST & in each ST across(29 total)
ROW 3: CH 1(does not count as a ST) & turn, HDC in the first ST, repeat(place 3 FPDC on the next ST, SK 2) across, HDC in the last ST
ROW 4: CH 1(does not count as a ST) & turn, EDC in the first ST, CH1, repeat (DC3TOG. CH 2) 8 times, DC3TOG. CH 1, DC in the last ST

NOTE: for gauge your measurement should be 3½” by 8” at this point.

I chose not to do a border with this design because I really like the wavy edges it creates. If you would like to, feel free to add your own.
