Burst Scissor Holder Crochet Pattern

Updated: Dec 6, 2023

Constantly losing your scissors? How about a handy little pouch that conveniently hangs on your fridge to slide them in and out of? This pattern uses my Burst Stitch design & is easily adaptable to whichever size scissor you need. These make great gifts & craft show stock items too.

BURST SCISSOR HOLDER PIN PIC

I have a few more designs for these handy little helpers on the way.... I might just create an e-book with them too but still on the fence about all that. While I'm waiting to release the others I decided to slap this one here on my blog so you all can get some made up.

I plan to take these to my fall craft shows this year. I found a great deal on Amazon for a 24 pack of scissors that cost less than $24 and are actually amazing scissors, or you may find some scissors at your local dollar establishment if you are looking to keep your costs down.

HEART DIVIDER
BURST SCISSOR HOLDER PIC 1

Here's what you'll need to get started.......

Materials:

Caron One Pound yarn(approx.32 yds total)

H(5mm) Hook

Scissors

Needle

Decorative Button

Magnet

Abbreviations(US Terms):

SK = Skip

sts = Stitches

ST = Stitch

SL= Slip Stitch

CH = Chain

SC = Single Crochet

HDC= Half Double Crochet

NOTES: Final measurements should be just under 3” wide (folded) by 5.5” tall. Measurement is important! Your opening needs to be small enough so that the scissor does not fall right through the sleeve. Leave the bottom open for longer scissors to fit.

*** The PDF of this pattern includes how to adapt the stitch design for other measurements & a hanger option if you would like instead of using magnets.

To begin CH 20, SL to your beginning CH to connect.

ROUND 1:(right side) CH 1(Does not count as a ST), HDC in each CH around, SL to your beginning HDC to connect(20 total)

ROUNDS 2-14: CH 1(Does not count as a ST) & turn, repeat(Place a HDC and a SC in the next ST, SK 1) 10 times, SL to your beginning HDC to connect

*NOTE For ROUNDS 3-14: you will be working ONLY in the SC sts from the previous ROUND

ROUND 15: CH 1(Does not count as a ST) & turn, HDC in each ST around, SL to your beginning HDC to connect(20 total)

Cut, tie off & weave in your ends. Attach a cute button to the front for decoration & a magnet or 2 depending on the weight of your scissor to the back along the seam.
