PART 1:

NOTES:

  • To adapt my "Barbed Stitch" pattern to other sizes chain any multiple of 4.

  • For a larger wrist/forearm circumference you can add more repeats to the main panel. ADD in multiples of 4(row 3, row 4, row 3, row 4) OR change the bottom trim to “SL in the next 2 sts of ROUND 1”

  • Finished gloves should measure 8” long and 4” wide at the wrist but will stretch larger due to the sts used.

  • Make sure you go into the skipped ST when instructed, not the CH gap. This is also known as a “Spike Stitch”.

  • I've created a PRIVATE YouTube helper video for this stitch available below or on YouTube HERE

Let's begin with the Right Hand glove.

to begin CH 28

ROW 1:(Right Side) HDC in the 2nd CH from your hook and in the next 2 sts, repeat(CH1/SK1, HDC in the next 3 sts) 6 times(27 total sts)

ROW 2: CH 1(does not count as a ST) & turn, SC in the first 2 sts, FP HDC the next ST, DC in the skipped starting CH, repeat(FP HDC, SC, FP HDC, DC in the skipped starting CH) 5 times, FP HDC, SC in the last 2 sts

Fold your piece, right sides together, bringing your starting CH up to meet row 28.

SL the 2 ends together 4 sts, now SL the next 9 sts just along ROW 28, SL the last 15 sts of both panels together. Be careful not to pull your SL sts too tight so that it doesn't pucker up.

PART 3:

Ok this part is super simple......

LEFT HAND GLOVE: REPEAT PART 1!!!

NOTE: The left glove's construction and trim are slightly different than the right so don't jump ahead!!!

PART 4:

For the left glove you will follow the same directions as Part 2 with one exception.

DO NOT TURN YOUR PIECE RIGHT SIDE OUT AFTER SEAMING!

Work the bottom trim the same as before then turn your glove right side out before putting on your glove. Line up your button hole & mark the button placement on the band. Finish by attaching your button.
